Peter Chapman

Executive Director

Peter Chapman is the Executive Director of the Shareholder Association for Research and Education. SHARE is a leading provider of proxy voting, shareholder engagement and policy consulting services to Canadian institutional investors and of governance and investment education to pension trustees and other investment decision-makers.

Peter has been active in the field of responsible investment in Canada since 1987 and joined the staff of SHARE in 2000. He has played an active role facilitating shareholder engagement activities between institutional investors and the corporations in which they invest on environmental, social and governance issues in Canada and internationally.

Peter is a member of the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets and serves as a director of a small international development charity. He is a former member of the Boards of Directors of the Social Investment Organization and the West Coast Environmental Law Association and was a member of the National Roundtable on Environment and Economy’s Taskforce on Capital Markets & Sustainability. Currently he serves as a Canadian representative to the Global Unions Committee on Workers Capital.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University.
